Photo by @andrewmcconnellphoto Irish photojournalist Andrew McConnell (@andrewmcconnellphoto) is in awe each time he brings his camera to the Kazakhstan Steppe, a remote pocket of Central Asia. ?It?s the arrivals hall of planet Earth,? he says. ? For the past three years, Andrew has documented the arrivals of Soyuz capsules ? small, squat spacecrafts that carry astronauts of all nationalities from the International Space Station back to their home planet. ?Space travel is changing fast, and in many ways, these images already feel nostalgic,? he explains. ?I see what I?m documenting as the end of the beginning, and the next stage of our progression as a species. It?s part of our DNA to explore. Launching ourselves into the cosmos is no different than setting sail across the oceans.? Watch our story to join Andrew in Kazakhstan for a Soyuz capsule landing.
