?When I dress as the character Catrina Divina (@catrinadivinaofficial), I feel like the messenger of culture,? says Bakersfield, California, artist Francisco Parraguirre Huerta. Originally from Ayutla, Jalisco, Mexico, Francisco passes on the traditions of his culture, not only on Día de los Muertos, but all year round. An elaborate headpiece for Catrina can take up to a month of working six hours a day. ? ? For Francisco, the work is well worth it. ?When I dress as Catrina, the confident person inside me comes to life. I lose my fears and it transforms me into a more confident and stronger person.? #DiaDeLosMuertos #HiddenGems? ? Photo by @catrinadivinaofficial
